Hello everyone!

Sorry we haven't been in contact recently. There was a school holiday for the children to celebrate a religious festival.

On Wednesday the younger children performed a colourful circus act for us. Next the cubs, Bulbuls (brownies) and Bunnies (Rainbows) showed off their activities. We also felt very honoured to be asked to plant a beautiful plant to commemorate our visit.

The children have been very keen to find out about all of you, so they had the opportunity to ask lots of questions. We also gave the children all the questions that 4AK and 6T had asked and they have now answered them all which they thoroughly enjoyed!

On Thursday we visited a heritage open air museum, where we walked around some very traditional Indian buildings. It was fascinating and very hot! You can see pictures of it if you google 'Manipal Heritage Village, India'

Friday (today), we arrived at school to find that the teachers here had arranged for us to be dressed in saris with flowers in our hair. We felt very important even though we kept tripping up!

Then we saw a traditional 'Tiger Dance' and another dance used to celebrate Krishna's birthday.

We visited and donated some food to the local orphanage.

The day was ended with some traditional sports. Joining in whilst we were wearing our saris must have been a funny sight...

Monsieur Hibou is still having a fantastic time and joining in with everything.
Bye!

Tuesday 8th March, Mangalore.

Hi Trafalgar,
We were treated to another amazing display by Canara children this morning. This time we were wowed by traditional dancing.

The children are working hard at the moment for end of year exams starting next week, even in Nursery! They are very interested in finding out about England and Trafalgar children.
What do you think of what you have seen so far?

Hi Trafalgar, we arrived at Canara School this morning to an amazing welcome. As we walked through the school gates, we were met by some school girls in traditional dress, who led us in procession to the door of the school. We felt so important! Garlands of scented flowers were presented to us and placed around our necks. The children then marched into the school assembly, accompanied by the school band. In the assembly, the morning yoga session relaxed our nerves. However, not for long as Mrs Taylor was asked to sing a song in spanish in front of the whole school. The only one she knew was 'La Cucuracha', which is about a cockroach. Mrs Assemakis tried not to laugh!

Monsieur Hibou had a less stressful journey than the teachers and is enjoying himself in India.
